Anything else? Something, as Christians, we remember during this time. The birth of our Savior: Yeshua the Messiah, Jesus Christ. Although it is more plausible that He was born during one of the Feasts of Israel. The Fall Feast of Tabernacles/Sukkot comes to mind as to follow with prior Feast fulfillments: Death - Passover, Risen - First Fruits, Holy Spirit - Pentecost. John 1:14 says "The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us". However, Christmas/December is the time that most take time to remember his birth.
Cute and cuddly do not last long as remembering his birth ultimately leads to remembering his death. This could really be deep dive into Biblical study on the significance of where he was born and how he died, but I will to try to keep it simple: we do non-perfect stuff and blood/death was needed to cover that stuff in order to be in the presence of a perfect God. In Bible times, animals were used. Jesus replaced the old sacrifice system and became the final sacrifice. "Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!" - John 1:29. "It is finished." - John 19:30. If you want to know more, you can visit this website: https://www.gracechurch.org/about/gospel/.
To create my card, my thought process was a mesh of different things: the Bible story in Luke 2 and the era of Charles Dickens - for one of my favorites A Christmas Carol - although this might be a bit of a stretch.
The printed paper on the front was from My Mind's Eye Signature Christmas Holiday Glitter Book (from 2009). The reason I picked this particular pattern from the set was that the berries/ivy made me think of the crown of thorns.
