Originally, I had all my 12x12 sheets, ie scrapbook paper, in the 12x12 Simply Built File Holder Organizer Cube. I had two stacked one on top of the other. The concept was great, the execution was terrible. First, they were not solid. The cube itself was wobbly (like it might come apart at any moment). Also, the drawers were not easy to slide in/out of the cube. So, several years back when I was trying to condense my 'stuff', I put all scrapbook 12x12 papers in clear plastic storage cases with lids that clasp shut. The brand on them is Creative Options. (You can see one sitting on top of the cube in the picture below). I also have some with no brand from Hobby Lobby/Michaels. I've been on a hiatus from scrapbooking for a LOONG while now. Hoping my mojo comes back soon.
For my 8.5x11 papers, I want them to be more assessable. My main use for this size is for card making. However, they are (acid/lignin/photo) safe for a transition back to scrapbooking. For as long as I can remember I have used a file folder filing type system for my cardstock. At one time I had a 4-drawer metal filing cabinet (just so you know, not all 4 drawers were cardstock). From there, I went to the smaller, portable file box with lid. I am currently storing my 8.5x11 paper in that 12x12 file cube system I mention earlier.
Here's a picture of it. I had given the cubes to a friend after taking out the 12x12 paper. She ended up not using and I retrieved them for my 8.5x11 paper.
I don't like how deep the files are and have decided to make it my holding spot until I decide on what to use. Do I stay with the filing system? Go with something else? I don't like the wire paper rack or trays. I've been reading about, and am leaning, toward the Totally Tiffany plastic holders or magazine holders. If I decide on one of those, I plan on taking out the drawer and using the cube as a shelf.
-----------------------
I decided against the Totally Tiffany holders as they seem a bit flimsy. I found plastic file bins at The Container Store that I can slide on and off the shelf I created from the cube cabinet mentioned earlier.
I took apart the drawers by disconnecting the drawer front from the box file part the folders hung on. The front of the drawer will become a door by turning it sideways and attaching hinges and a magnetic closure. I will post it later and add a link here.
