I love the idea of using a file folder as the basis for a note pad holder. If you have no idea as to what I'm talking about, or just can't visualize it, you can see one here. I am working on some gifts for a friend at work and my problem came in the area of matching colors. I didn't want to go out and buy new folders. Not only would that be an added expense, but finding the 'right' color(s) would be a nightmare. So I go to my all time favorite site to get ideas, SplitCoast Stampers, and find an idea that jump starts my thinking process. Several thoughts later I come up with this:
I took an 8.5x11 sheet of card stock. Scored at 5.25 & 5.75 on the 11" side. Scored at 6.5 & 7 on the 8.5" side. Note: I think the next one will be with just a score line at 6.5. My original idea of it having a square bottom wouldn't come together. Anyway...folded at all score lines. Used Scor-Tape to adhere sides to make pockets & adhere ribbon on outside. I cut the ribbon to tie a knot to keep closed. But had I cut a little longer, it could be tied in a bow.
This project can hold note cards as shown. A note pad would be great too. If you can't find a smaller note pad than a 5x7, someone told me that Office Depot (and I'm sure other office supply stores) will cut the pad down.
Thought this was a great alternative to using a file folder.
